'24 hours in a woman's life' the musical at the Théâtre La Bruyère From July 1st to august 1st 2015

After four years of writing, composing and showcases with Sergeï Dreznin, Stéphane Ly-Cuoung and Christine Kandel, the musical adaptation of the Stefan Zweig novel, 24 Hours In A Woman's Life, directed by Franck Berthier, which saw the light of day at the Théâtre Maurice Novarina, Thonon-Les-Bains, will be presented at Théâtre La Bruyère in July 2015.

A recently widowed woman throws herself body and soul into a love affair with a gambling obsessed young man who has recently lost everything at the casino.

She relates this unforgettable and flamboyant passion, the raw yet masked emotion of a timeless story of love and abandon despite social convention.

"What most surprises me while reading Stefan Zweig, is the almost surgical analysis of feminine behaviour written by man. This author has a conscience and an incredible clear-sightedness that enables us all to relate to our own experiences. Over a century ago, he interrogated both the soul and human functioning. Today we need to get back inside ourselves. In this ruptured society, this urgent society of total relational violence, where economic crisis is the reflection of identity crisis, people are in need of intimacy. Submerging into one’s self, accepting to return to one’s self, becoming capable of proclaiming who we are... is the only way of constructing tomorrow”
Franck Berthier, director.

24 Hours In A Woman’s Life has been adapted many times for both theatre and cinema but never before as a musical... and yet the passion, the fervent ignition of body and soul despite social convention, offers exceptional subject matter to Sergeï Dreznin’s score, a vast range of colour on a par with its heroine.
Stéphane Ly-Cuong et Christine Khandjia, adaptation and lyrics.
