The songs that filled my childhood—those great voices that poured out of the tiny speaker of the orange record player beside my bed. Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Julie Andrews, Peggy Lee… The grand orchestras of Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, or Benny Goodman… When the needle reached the end, I’d gently place it back at the start—again, and again, and again.

With my incredible septet, at every concert, we’ll spin those 45s and LPs once more. The crackle will be missing, as will my father, asking me to turn it off before Dinah Shore and André Previn finish April in Paris, sometime around midnight… But humbly, and joyfully, we’ll try to honor the legends who paved the way—for my voice, and for so many others.

quote
It would be only fitting to place Isabelle Georges on equal footing with other great performers—Piaf, Garland, Baker, Minnelli, Midler—but no comparison can fully capture the experience of seeing Isabelle Georges on stage. Like each of these iconic women, she is original. She is one of a kind.
